A CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION SELF-COCKING REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S DOUBLE-TRIGGER', serial no. 4996T,
circa 1853, with blued octagonal 6 1/8in. barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the border and scroll engraved top-strap, engraved band to muzzle, the top-strap also signed 'J. ERSKINE NEWTON STEWART', scroll engraved barrel-throat, borderline engraved five-shot cylinder with rope-twist milled band to leading edge, borderline and scroll engraved solid frame with spurless hammer and fitted with Tranter's patent trigger-cocking mechanism, chequered swept walnut saw-handled grip, moulded and engraved iron butt-cap and detachable solid rammer mounted to the left hand side, strong amount of original finish throughout and complete with its walnut storage case lined and compartmented in green baize and containing a full suite of associated accessories including a bag-shaped flask, matching number mould, tins for caps, lubricating compound and bullets, a cleaning rod, oil-bottle, nipple-key and spare nipples
